The Cecil B. DeMille Award:
Jodie Foster to be Honored
The Award
During the 50's the HFPA decided to create a special award, and since the first one to receive it was Cecile B. DeMille, the Award was called The Cecil DeMille Award.
Cecil B. DeMille
When it was first presented, at the 9th Annual Ceremony of the Golden Globe Awards in 1952, Clint Eastwood was 22, Dustin Hoffman was 15 and Steven Spielberg was 6. Named in Honor of the first Director to be awarded, the Cecil B. DeMille award is a lifetime achievemente for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment".
This year actor, producer and director Jodie Foster will receive the Award and, as HFPA president Dr. Aida Takla O’Reilly said, she deserves it: “Jodie is a multifaceted woman that has achieved immeasurable amounts
of success and will continue to do so in her career. Her ambition,
exuberance and grace have helped pave the way for budding artists in
this business. She’s truly one of a kind".
Jodie Foster
Jodie Foster received a total of 5 nominations, and won 2 Golden Globes in 1988 for The Accused, and in 1991 for her outstanding performance as Clarice Starling in The silence of the Lambs.
