The Mexican Standoff, differs from a duel, in fact the subject that goes first is in disadvantage. When we have three subjects no one is safe. So with three entities in conflict with each other is difficult to get out of a situation.
I'm sure you remember this scene from Pulp Fiction. Well that's another perfect exemple of a Mexican Standoff in Movies. No one is safe!
Imagine Honey Bunny shooting Jules Winnfield, the reaction to that could be Vincent shooting Honey Bunny, and maybe also Pumpkin. But here we have Vince and Jules stand together.
